Mohamed Salah has been a truly magnificent signing for Liverpool since making the switch from AS Roma.
The Egypt international cost £34m – not a crazy amount in today’s transfer market – and he has since repaid every single penny of that. He has already scored 91 goals in 144 matches for the Reds, winning the Champions League on one occasion and getting his hands on two Premier League Golden Boots in the process.
However, it appears that the former Chelsea man was not Jurgen Klopp’s first choice. Instead, the 52-year-old actually wanted the club to sign PSG’s Julian Draxler, as per David Lynch of The Evening Standard. Whilst he does not have an atrocious record with the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring 20 goals and providing 32 assists in 134 matches, he has made just 19 appearances in all competitions.
As you can imagine, this has got the Reds supporters talking, with many admitting that they were delighted that they got Salah and not Draxler. One even suggested that signing the German would have been Klopp’s ‘biggest mistake‘.

I think Klopp has always admitted that salah was a signing driven by Edwards ands rh scouts. Similar with Mane (he wanted Goetze). Another refreshing thing about Klopp. No ego

That would’ve been his biggest mistake.
