The Liverpool supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern were mightily relieved last weekend after witnessing their side win in ugly fashion against a dogged Burnley side. 

The Reds were in contention for the title at the turn of the year but a disastrous run of results during 2017 have curtailed any plans that they might have had of winning the elusive Premier League crown.

German boss Jurgen Klopp has been a hot topic of discussion this past week in the Tavern, with our resident Liverpool fans discussing whether or not the club will ever win the title under the super quick style of football that he deploys.

This week the banter has been flying around between Liverpool and Manchester City fans over their fixture this weekend, with several of the Reds contingent hoping that Klopp gets his team selection right.

Divock Origi

The Belgian striker was thrown into the first-team fold last weekend due to an injury to Roberto Firmino but with the Brazilian set to return this weekend, Origi’s place is seemingly in jeopardy.

One Liverpool fan is enjoying a game of cards with his pals here in the Tavern and he thinks that Origi is good but he still needs to learn to play consistently well in the Premier League. He states the if Firmino is fit then he should be playing – simple as!

Emre Can

Although the German netted the winner in last weekend’s game there is every chance that he could be left out of the Liverpool starting line-up this weekend, with Jordan Henderson nearing a return to fitness.

Given a lack of squad depth the Reds’ team tends to pick itself, but if Henderson is fit then he is more likely to play than Can.

One Reds supporter is ordering is belly busting all-day breakfast and a pint and he thinks that Can is playing well but does also state that it is very unlikely he will play if Henderson returns.
