Drop them: Rowett must axe these 2 players from today’s starting Derby XI against Wolves

It’s been a tough season down in the Championship for Derby County and Gary Rowett, who have been left behind in the race for promotion this season!

Rams fans here in the pub haven’t been best impressed by some of the football they’ve seen from their side at times this season and they’ve been let down by some poor spells of form that have left them miles behind the top-six.

Our Derby-mad barman hasn’t been best impressed with what he’s seen either this season and has demanded better things from Gary Rowett’s team next season, where they’ll be surely pushing for automatic promotion.

But there’s two players we think haven’t done enough in recent weeks to warrant a start this weekend and our landlord wants to see them dropped for the game against Wolves?

The players in question? Here’s the individuals our landlord has selected for the chop for today’s game against Wolves…

Darren Bent

It’s been a poor season from former Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, who has struggled in the goals department this season.

Derby are on a poor run of form and bringing someone like David Nugent back into the first-team for a start might be a decent option against a Wolves side that has shipped goals this season.

Will Hughes

There’s absolutely no doubting the quality and skill Will Hughes has in his locker but at times this season, he’s looked a little lightweight in the middle-of-the-park.

Some of our Derby regulars want to see some more strength in the midfield and bringing someone like Butterfield back in might be a decent shout indeed.
