Manchester United fans here in the Tavern are feeling excited ahead of the new season, as they believe that their side will secure the Premier League title with ease.

Jose Mourinho wasn’t able to secure any silverware in the campaign just gone, so he will be desperate to build for success over the course of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the Red Devils have already been busy so far this summer, with Fred and Diogo Dalot making the move to Manchester. However, Mourinho won’t stop there as there’re plenty more areas to improve in, with a defender and a central midfielder craved for by many of our local Mancunians.

So, Ed Woodward will need to tell Mourinho to keep an eye on the World Cup later on this month, as he may be able to seek out a couple of international stars that could establish themselves as heroes at Old Trafford.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic established himself as one of the most promising central midfielders in world football in the season just gone, with 14 goals and nine assists to his name in 48 appearances for current club Lazio.

Indeed, the 23-year-old was named in Serbia’s 23-man squad for the World Cup later on this month, so he will be looking to carry his impressive club form into one of the world’s biggest events.

Manchester United are still trying to find the perfect partner for Nemanja Matic in the middle of midfield, with Paul Pogba possibly departing this summer and Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini heading for the exits. So, perhaps United will identify the Serbian as the ideal addition, as he has shown that he can contribute massively from the middle of the park and he still has the whole of his career ahead of him.

Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld has established himself as one of the best central defenders in world football during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, as he continues to grind out world-class performances in North London.

It came as no surprise that the 29-year-old was named in Belgium’s 23-man squad for the World Cup later on this month, with the Spurs man being crucial to their chances of lifting the trophy.

And, with Jose Mourinho eyeing a defensive overhaul, perhaps he will look to use Toby Alderweireld next to Diogo Dalot next season, with the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones looking worse for wear.
