Everton: Carlo Ancelotti tipped to sign striker in January by Michael Brown

Carlo Ancelotti has been tipped to sign a striker for Everton in the January transfer window by former Spurs and Leeds United ace Michael Brown.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown thinks that the Goodison Park faithful could do with another player at the top of the park and has tipped the Italian boss to find a top striker to sign for the Merseyside club next month:

“Could they do with another one? I think they could do with another striker, you can never have enough. That’s the general rule.

“I think you can find them a slot. I think with this manager, he can go find someone really good. I think there’s players who want to play for him and that’s the difference.”

Everton need back-up for Calvert-Lewin

The Toffees could well do with a back-up striker to Dominic Calvert-Lewin should the England international get himself injured or suspended for a long period of time.

With the 23 year-old scoring no fewer than 14 goals in all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term, the next best in the squad is Richarlison with four, while Cenk Tosun has yet to find the back of the net (Transfermarkt).

Thus, it would be wise for the Blues to have another player up front on their books in order to take the goal burden off of the shoulders of Calvert-Lewin.

However, EFC could well already have the striker that they are looking for already on their books, with Ellis Simms being tipped by a lot of fans to be promoted into the first team after all of the goals that he has scored at youth level so far this season.

Nonetheless, it may be a wise idea for Ancelotti to look into the market for a new forward, and he certainly has the pedigree to attract the very best as Brown suggests.
