Imagine where Everton would be if they had a striker in their ranks who could find the net on a regular occasion? The current crop of front men at Goodison Park have been rather woeful and have had to rely on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison to find the goals.
However, it appears Marco Silva and Marcel Brand have identified a young forward that appears to have a bright future ahead of him as a possible transfer target this summer.
What’s the News?
The Daily Mail are reporting that Everton have been checking on Lille striker Rafael Leao as he continues to impress.
The 19-year-old, who only joined the French outfit last summer from Sporting Lisbon, has fired seven goals this season and is understood to have drawn comparisons to a certain Kylian Mbappe.
The Verdict:

Everton clearly need to add attacking reinforcements to their squad in the summer and Leao could be another one of Brands’ famous gem bargains, with the director of football having a rather excellent history of unearthing hidden talents in the past at PSV Eindhoven.
The 19-year-old is an extremely quick and skilful forward that can play on either the wing or as a centre-forward, which is something that can really appeal to Silva and the tactics he likes to employ at Goodison Park.
As mentioned, he has been compared to Mbappe with some sections of the media, which would certainly make for some exciting reading at the Toffees.
A Portugal Under-21 international, Leao clearly has plenty of potential and whilst he is far from the complete product, he could certainly develop extremely well and turn into an excellent player in the future.
But, with Everton’s desire to find a striker that can hit the ground running and provide a regular source of goals straight away, doubts about whether the teenager is the immediate answer will surely be raised.
