Everton closing in on bargain deal for talented attacker, talks due next week

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been huddled around their booth talking intently this afternoon amid reports from Sport Witness that their club are set for talks with 18-year-old Brazilian sensation Caio Emerson next week.

The teenager may not be a household name, but this deal looks particularly intriguing with the attacker available for a bargain compensation fee of around £183,000 given that his contract with Corinthians has expired.

He has been unable to move across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe until recently, but now Emerson is 18 he’s free to secure a transfer, and Sport Witness claim that talks between the player’s representatives and the Merseysiders are due to take place next week.

The same source recently claimed that the Toffees had won the race for the player, but these suggestions appear to have been a little premature, as their latest report hints at.

Corinthians remain hopeful of convincing the youngster to stay with them for their 2017 season, but they may find it hard to compete with the money on offer in England.

Emerson has been sidelined for a little while, with the Brazilian season running through a single calendar year, so the aim is to get him a new club as soon as possible, with Everton keen.

The plan is apparently to allow the starlet to train with the club for the remainder of the season before registering him over the summer, although there may be issues surrounding obtaining a work permit for him – a frequent problem for British clubs recruiting South American players.

Emerson’s talents are well known, with Goal having claimed last year that the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea were all interested in him.
