Many Everton fans have flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on former defender David Weir.
One of the real stalwarts of the David Moyes era at Everton, Weir proved himself to be a fantastic servant for the Toffees in the years that he spent at Goodison Park.
The Scot signed for the Merseyside club back in 1999, and went on to play an impressive 254 times, scoring ten goals.
Weir of course played under both Walter Smith and Moyes, playing 114 and 140 games for the former Everton bosses respectively. He was a permanent fixture for his country too, earning himself 70 caps for Scotland, and scoring once.
Despite leaving the club way back in January 2007, Everton fans have taken to Twitter to reminisce about one of their great servants of the Premier League era.
Massively under rated. Didn’t Sir Alex make a bid for him at some point in his Everton career? Might have been only 2 or 3 mil but sure he did

250k I think. One of our best value for money signings ever.
