Djibril Sidibe has revealed that Everton offered him the chance to stay at Goodison Park after his loan move from AS Monaco ended last season.
Speaking to Journal L’Est Eclair (via Sport Witness), the France international said:
“I can’t wait to return to England in the very near future.”
He also spoke about how the two clubs could not come to an adequate agreement for him and why in the end, he decided to stay at Monaco, although he has great memories from his time playing under Carlo Ancelotti.
Sidibe had a decent spell at Everton
Sidibe had a relatively decent spell at the Merseyside club in the 2019/20 term, as he managed to play in 28 games in all competitions, making five assists (Transfermarkt).

In the Premier League alone, the 28-year-old won no fewer than 5.8 of his duels a game, and also averaged a very impressive 3.3 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.3 clearances per match (Sofascore).
Should Everton have signed Sidibe permanently?
As Seamus Coleman is not getting any younger, perhaps the Toffees should have really considered signing Sidibe on a permanent deal.

With a season of experience in English football under his belt, he could have provided adequate cover for the Republic of Ireland international if and when needed, and perhaps right-back is an area that the Blues will look to strengthen in the January transfer window.
