According to a report from Sky Germany via Sky Sports, former Liverpool midfielder and alleged Everton target Emre Can looks set to complete a move to Borussia Dortmund before the end of the January transfer window – prompting much relief from a section of Toffees supporters who didn’t want a former Red at Goodison Park.
Can, who made 167 total appearances for Liverpool, scoring 14 goals and assisting 12 others from midfield (Transfermarkt), has been linked with a return to Merseyside in a £30 million deal recently due to Everton’s interest (Daily Mail) – but this news coming from Sky has revealed that the Germany international could be set to make a move to the Bundesliga instead.
Compared to current Toffees central duo Fabian Delph and Tom Davies, Can averaged a superior pass completion rate (87.1%) when playing regularly for the Old Lady over 2018/2019 – whilst also making more tackles (2.2) than the pair in Serie A, as per WhoScored.com.
Despite the fact Can boasts more impressive numbers, Everton supporters are still relieved they won’t be linking up with an old foe – find all of their best comments from Twitter here.
