The Toffees eased their way to three points and Sigurdsson’s strike was the pick of the two. His strike from range meant that it was his 21st Premier League goal from outside the box since 2012, with only Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen scoring more with 22.

Sigurdsson has found himself in and out the side this season due to poor form, something he recently discussed with Visir (via Sport Witness). The strike was a perfect way to answer his critics.

Supporters were quick to send their congratulations to the Iceland international and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described the goal as “frightening”, while another said that it should have won the Premier League Goal of the Month award as well.
