Everton: Fans credit Bryan Oviedo for respectful message to Andre Gomes

Many Everton fans have been paying their respects to former Toffees left-back Bryan Oviedo after the kind words he said about Andre Gomes.

The Portuguese midfielder suffered a horrific injury against Tottenham after a challenge from Spurs winger Son Heung-min resulted in a fractured dislocation of his right ankle, for which the South Korea international was given a red card. The game finished 1-1 but was overshadowed by Gomes’ traumatic injury.

After successfully undergoing surgery, it is not known for how long Marco Silva will be without his middle man as his side approach a tricky run of fixtures against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in December.

Oviedo, who is currently in his second stint with FC Copenhagen, spent five seasons at Goodison Park after his £5m move from the Danish capital and is best known for his late winner against Manchester United during the Toffees’ 1-0 win at Old Trafford in December 2013.

Many supporters were touched by the Costa Rica international’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media.

Here are some of the best comments from Everton fans:
