Everton: Fans criticise Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite scoring against Arsenal

Some Everton fans have criticised striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite getting on the scoresheet during his side’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal.

The Toffees were left frustrated in north London despite the 22-year-old giving his side the lead after just 49 seconds. Richarlison also found the net before the interval, but a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a goal from Eddie Nketiah ensured that the Blues left north London empty-handed.

Despite having scored seven goals in his last nine Premier League appearances under Carlo Ancelotti (according to BBC Sport), segments of the Gwladys Street faithful were frustrated with the Englishman’s poor finishing. He had five shots on goal and missed two big chances, which ultimately could have swung the tie in Everton’s favour, as per Sofascore. One supporter said that there was simply no excuse for missing the opportunities that he did, which another described his performance as “botched”.
