The Athletic have pointed the finger at Marco Silva as to why Jean-Philippe Gbamin has suffered another serious injury.
In a recent feature from Patrick Boyland and Greg O’Keeffe, former Everton manager Silva has been put under the microscope as Gbamin’s injury history is discussed.
The Frenchman recently recovered from a long-term setback after suffering a hamstring injury. After speaking to the club about being ready to return to action, Gbamin was hit with more bad luck. The Toffees recently confirmed that the midfielder would not be back on the pitch until 2021 due to an Achilles injury.

The Athletic have claimed that it is perhaps due to Silva’s hurried nature of involving Gbamin in Premier League action that caused his first major convalescence at Goodison Park.
Relayed by Everton fan account @TheGwladysSt, these Blues fans have uncharacteristically rushed to the Portuguese manager’s defence. One supporter has tweeted “Very harsh on Silva in all fairness” as they reflect on the midfielder’s unlucky history with injuries:

We had Tom Davies also on the bench, no matter what your thoughts are on him as a player, he’d had a full pre season and was used to the pace of the Premier league etc,,, Silva was dreadful but not 100% convinced you can pin it all on him.

Everton fans, do you think Gbamin’s injury woes are largely down to Silva or has the ex-Toffees manager been unfairly maligned? Join the conversation in the comments below…
