Following a horror injury to midfield star Andre Gomes last weekend, and the recent news that Fabian Delph is a doubt for their next game, fans are calling on youngster Tom Davies to lead the midfield under the club’s official Twitter post.
The 21-year-old first broke through to the Everton first team during the 2016/2017 season, playing a crucial role during the Toffees’ 4-0 win over Manchester City at Goodison Park – a game where Davies shone and scored his first goal for the club.
Now, Everton supporters are looking for him to replicate that stunning first-season form and help them climb out of a worrying situation in and around the relegation places.
Marco Silva’s side have lost five out of their last seven games in the league, recently slumping to a shock 3-2 defeat at Brighton, with real pressure now on the manager’s shoulders to get a good run of form going.
Everton travel to Southampton on Saturday, but with Gomes and Delph both sidelined, now could be the chance for Davies to show he can lead this team.
Here’s how fans pleaded for the youngster to make an impact, reacting in droves to the club’s official post.
The only midfielder available who can play a forward pass. Start him every week

He is certainly more ambitious with his passing and has made a difference.
In a confident team he may be even better.
Early days though.— Ken Pickard (@jockwink) November 7, 2019
