Everton’s 2-1 win against Southampton has taken them six points away from the relegation zone, so they can now concentrate on looking up rather than down. The Everton faithful should also be able to look forward into the future with optimism, with both Mason Holgate and Tom Davies putting in performances worthy of Marco Silva keeping faith in them.
Holgate in particular had an impressive game on Saturday, even managing to register his second assist of the season. He’s made just three starts so far in the Premier league this term, but each of them have come in the last three games, helping the Toffees to four points out of six. He even scored a goal in the League Cup and was awarded WhoScored’s star man for the game, so he’s on a real high at the moment.

Everton fans have noticed it too. The club’s official Twitter account posted a selfie the 23-year-old and Tom Davies took after the game with the caption “These two today” with an approving emoji at the end. Fans were quick to praise both lads for their performance, but Holgate was singled out by many as a stand-out performer. Some even asked for him to be given a new contract.
