Everton: Fans laud bid for Norwich City ace Ben Godfrey as alternative to Fikayo Tomori

Many Everton fans have been lauding a reported bid that the Merseyside club have made for Ben Godfrey.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Toffees have offered Norwich City £20 million plus an extra £6 million in bonuses to sign the central defender before the summer transfer window shuts.

As per the outlet, the Blues are also waiting to see if Frank Lampard will allow Fikayo Tomori to leave Chelsea on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 term.

Indeed, despite the relegation of the Canaries to the EFL Championship at the end of the 2019/20 season, the centre-back actually averaged more clearances, blocks and passes than Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina in the Premier League (via Whoscored).

These members of the Goodison Park faithful lauded the news on Twitter, with one supporter even claiming that £26 million would be a ‘steal’ to sign Godfrey, perhaps given that he is still just 22 years of age and an Englishman:
