Everton fans have fondly remembered Romelu Lukaku’s spell at the club, reacting to a post on social media.
The Belgian striker originally began his career in his homeland, developing at a rapid rate over his younger years with Anderlecht.
Four seasons in the first team with Anderlecht saw Lukaku score 43 goals and enhance his reputation amongst European suitors, prompting a move to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2011.
Despite his impressive performances at first team level back in Belgium, the now 26-year-old struggled to find regular playing time at Stamford Bridge, resulting in the striker having loans away from the London based club.
Joining West Bromwich Albion in 2012, Lukaku would follow that season up with a deal at Goodison Park, where he would remain for four seasons after making his initial loan deal a permanent one in 2014.
87 goals during his time on Merseyside saw the £61.2m-valued ace become one of the most clinical strikers to play for Everton in the Premier League in recent times.
Departing the club 2017 for a two-year spell with Manchester United, the Belgian hot-shot would continue his goalscoring efforts before leaving England for the first time in seven years, joining Serie A side Inter Milan, where he has since netted an impressive 23 goals in 35 appearances this term.
Looking back fondly on his time with Everton, fans responded to a tweet from fan account @TheGwladysSt, who tweeted: ‘Lukaku in the spotlight on Premier League 100 Club on Sky Sports here. What a player he is. Would pay some serious cash to have him back.’ – and below are some of the responses.
I think unfortunately the chances that Richarlison is sold in the next two years for £100m + is very high and as his replacement I reckon having a go at lukaku wouldn’t be a bad option

We never replaced him.

Forgot about some of these goals. Clinical at times. Great player

Reckon he could potentially be tempted back if the ‘Ancelotti Project’ starts to gather momentum? Ancelotti himself is a magnet for any player.

Can’t agree with that, look at his goal record for us, that’s not a lazy player. My only criticism of him was his touch

Very true. A minority of our fans but still mind boggling. Without doubt the best striker I’ve seen us have.
