Everton: Fans rage as Mike Dean is set to take charge of Merseyside derby

Everton fans were outraged after referee Mike Dean was appointed to take charge of the Merseyside derby next month.

Marco Silva’s Blues take on city rivals Liverpool at Anfield on December 4th, with the Portuguese manager under immense pressure after their 2-0 defeat to Norwich City on Saturday.

Silva’s reign looks like it could be brought to an end with a host of names being linked with his position in the Goodison Park dugout. His team have picked up just four wins out of their first 13 Premier League games of the campaign and have earned a reputation for having disastrous away form.

Toffees’ fans were horrified to discover that the Wirral-born official Mike Dean will be taking charge of the contest – an official who Toffees’ fans believe is a Liverpool supporter.

This will not be the first time that Dean will have taken charge of a Merseyside derby. He was the man in the middle as Everton conceded a last-minute goal to Sadio Mane and lost 1-0 in 2016.

Supporters were fuming about the news and made their opinions on Dean clear on social media.

Here you will find some of the best responses from Everton fans:
