Everton sacked manager Marco Silva after suffering a dreadful start to the Premier League season.
The Toffees have lost nine of their 15 league games this season, a run that has left them in the relegation zone as the halfway mark approaches.
Their latest defeat was a hammering at the hands of city rivals Liverpool, meaning they’d won just one of their last six games in the top flight.
It won’t get any easier for interim boss Duncan Ferguson and his future successor at Goodison Park, with Everton facing Chelsea, Manchester United, Leicester and Arsenal in their next four games.
Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri will have the final say on the new manager, despite the presence of Marcel Brands as Director of Football, according to journalist Alan Myers on Twitter.
This news has upset some fans, questioning the significance of Brands’ role if major appointments will be made over his head.
Here’s how some of them reacted:
Ridiculous

What the point in having a DoF?

Is that part of the issue – “Chairman & trusted advisors” – surely he can’t trust them based on past advice?!!!
MB should be the person choosing and being accountable…..otherwise why have a DOF model?

Farhad should accept whatever decision brands comes too, Moshiri must now realise he ain’t the guy to pick managers Al.

The chairman shouldn’t have a say Al, hes too emotionally attached and lets his heart rule his head too much, let Brands do what hes supposed to and get the okay from the owner, this infighting over choices is a joke

The best leaders delegate, at our club all the leaders fight amongst themselves for their own ideas. That needs to be changed before we will ever have success again. What’s the point in Marcel as DOF if he’s not making the football decisions?
