Everton: Fans react to statement on Marco Silva’s start to the season

Many Everton supporters have been reacting on social media after one fan shared a statement reflecting on the Toffees’ start to the season under Marco Silva.

Fan site ‘Everton Blue Army’ raised the point that the Goodison Park natives could have ended match week six of the Premier League season sat in third place, had the Merseyside outfit not fallen to defeats against AFC Bournemouth and Sheffield United in their last two fixtures.

The results have led to fans mounting ever-growing pressure on Silva to spark a favourable turnaround in their side’s fortunes, as the recent defeats mean Everton reside in 14th place with a minus-four goal difference.

Only the reigning Championship title-holders Norwich City at minus-five and Watford at minus-14 have a worse goal difference than Everton after the opening six league games, with the Hornets’ watching their record plummet at the weekend as they were trounced 8-0 away to Manchester City.

Had Everton beaten Aston Villa earlier in the campaign, as another supporter pointed out in the replies, the Toffees could have also moved into second with a win at home to Sheffield United on Saturday, rather than looking at an eleven-point deficit to inner-city rivals Liverpool.

Everton’s upcoming Premier League schedule sees the Goodison Park side host Manchester City on Saturday, before facing Burnley, West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion before the end of October.
