Everton fans have moved quickly to respond to a report by Spanish daily Sport claiming the club are interested in potentially signing Philippe Coutinho.
Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti came into Goodison Park in late December, and the Italian coach will undoubtedly be looking ahead to the summer transfer window, where he is likely to bring in a number of his own players.
Numerous links to players over the last couple of weeks have emerged with Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey both names that have been mentioned as potential arrivals.
Whilst those links continue, another former Premier League player in the shape of Coutinho has now been linked with a summer move to the club.
The €56m (£49m) valued Brazilian playmaker is known for his time on Merseyside with Liverpool, where he spent a successful six-year spell, scoring 54 goals in 201 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Everton are among a number of Premier League sides ready to offer for Phillippe Coutinho. Barca have already shipped him off to Bayern on loan this season and are hoping to find another club willing to take him off their hands when the transfer window opens. Despite his excellent form at Anfield, Coutinho’s move to La Liga giants Barcelona in January 2018, has somewhat not gone according to plan with the Catalan side opting to loan the midfielder out to Bundesliga’s Bayern Munich last summer.
A potential move to Everton would prove to be quite a coup, especially given Coutinho’s history as an ex-Red, but Sport claim that the Toffees are among five Premier League options at present for the Brazil international, which include Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Reacting to the report form the Barcelona based media outlet, Everton fans responded via fan account @TheGwladysst, and below are just some of the tweets:
