With Everton’s current managerial vacancy, talk is everywhere surrounding who will be the full-time successor to Marco Silva following his recent sacking.
One man heavily linked with the post at Goodison Park is ex-Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti after he was dismissed by Napoli earlier this week – despite guiding the Serie A outfit to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Following reports of Everton making an approach for the Italian manager, the Liverpool Echo’s Phil Kirkbride offered his thoughts on a potential coup for the Toffees as they seek their new man.
However, after suggesting that the three-time Champions League winner was not the kind of manager Everton need at this moment in time, he was met with widespread derision from the Toffees fanbase, as many supporters were at a loss to explain how someone with a CV as glittering as Ancelotti’s was somehow not suitable for the role.
Below is a selection of tweets showing Everton fans who disagreed with the article – and believe that Ancelotti would be a perfect replacement for Silva:
Usually think your spot on @philkecho, but have to massively disagree with this. You don’t pass up on a Ferrari because your garage is too small.

What a load of nonsensical dribble this article is

What so Moyes instead? Have a word with yourself

What rubbish. He is exactly what @Everton need. His teams are very organised, that’s what Everton need, once that is sorted he is a top manager who can attract the players who can take us to the next level. Everton want to be big, this is opportunity to act it, Carlo is the man.

Yeah god forbid Everton want a proven – an actual proven – winning manager 🙄
Pair the man with Dunc as his assistant, and watch a perfect union be EXACTLY what Everton needs right now.

He’s just what we need , next level not an up and coming or a manager that’s won nothing .

Disagree, you aim for the best & Ancelotti is up there so we have to do everything to get him here & maybe have Duncan working alongside him so he understands the feeling of the club

Yeah, let’s go with another unproven manager 👏👏👏👏👏
