Everton: Fans destroy Marco Silva after his claim that market conditions hindered him at Goodison Park

Many Everton fans have hammered their former boss Marco Silva after he spoke to Football Daily, blaming a difficult transfer market that hindered him at the Merseyside club.

Indeed, he was in charge when the likes of Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean were bought for relatively big money and, judging by their arguably poor statistics so far this season (Iwobi has two goals and one assist in 22 games in all competitions and Kean has netted once and made two assists in 27 matches in all competitions), some of his buys have perhaps not been value for money.

Also, Silva does not have the best of track records with the Toffees, having won just 25 of his 61 games in charge, drawing 11 and losing 25, according to Transfermarkt. Consequently, the Blues finished in eighth place in the 2018/19 Premier League, outside of the European qualifying positions, in his only full campaign at Goodison Park.

Silva was sacked in the middle of this term with the team in the relegation zone, the final nail in the coffin in his time at the club.
