It often happens at Premier League clubs where a loanee will come in and just completely get the club. The fans, the derbies, the way of life around the city all just click with that one player, and for the Toffees at the moment, that player is Andre Gomes, their incredible loanee from Barcelona who has been a revelation in the middle of the park.

The love between Andre Gomes and Everton fans is something special. The Portuguese midfielder already seems to have adapted to the way of life at Goodison Park, and if you didn’t know better you’d think he’d been with the Merseyside club for years instead of just mere months. However, the sad news is that his stay at the club is short, prompting loads of Toffees’ to beg him to sign a new deal.
When the news broke last summer that the midfielder was signing on-loan, the fans knew that the Portuguese midfielder had plenty about him. Game time at Barcelona certainly isn’t easy to come by and Gomes struggled on that front, but give him minutes in a progressive team and he will thrive, which is what we are all seeing this season. The only issue is that Barcelona will be keen to cash in, and could try and price Everton out of a move considering that other clubs will certainly be interested in Gomes.

The Toffees would do anything at this stage to ensure that Gomes is still an Evertonian next year and will just have to rely on Marcel Brands and Marco Silva to make this one a permanent one.
