In hindsight, it seems that Marco Silva mostly got the big decisions right yesterday, however, when the team news came out the Toffees certainly didn’t see that. All that the Everton fans saw was that Ademola Lookman had been left out of the squad whilst Theo Walcott lined up on the right-hand side of their midfield, and they were fuming.

When comparing the Toffees’ side with the Reds ahead of the game, it looked like it could have been a very one-sided matchup, and in terms of quality of chances, it was. However, Silva’s men stuck in the game and frustrated Liverpool as best they could. It wasn’t the same spirited display where they could have nicked it like the last Merseyside derby, but it was a promising performance nonetheless.
Despite that, a lot of Everton fans believe they would have had a much better chance of being able to nick a crucial win had they started with, or even had the option from the bench, of Ademola Lookman. The young ex-Charlton winger, like Walcott, has pace in abundance, although the difference is the youngster can often find a teammate or look dangerous going forward, unlike the ex-Arsenal man, and they don’t understand what the 21-year-old has to do to get a look in at the moment.

Everton fans everywhere were livid when they saw that Walcott started again whilst Lookman failed to make the matchday squad and despite the result, they want to see changes made next time around.
