Everton: Fans urge club to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure as Watford reject bid

Plenty of Everton fans have been urging the Merseyside club to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure as Foot Mercato reported that Watford have rejected an opening bid from Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

According to the outlet, the Toffees have offered €20 million (roughly £18 million) plus bonuses to the Hornets in order to acquire his services, but the Hertfordshire side want to hold out for a transfer fee closer to €30 million, which is the equivalent of around £27 million.

However, they are apparently struggling to hold their ground as they are in the EFL Championship and so may not be able to demand such a high fee for him, coupled up with the allegation that Doucoure wants to move to Goodison Park and will not give up easily.

Indeed, the Frenchman would arguably be an upgrade on the current options in the central midfield position for the Blues.

Comparing the stats of the 27-year old to Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes in the Premier League in the 2019/20 season, Doucoure averaged the most tackles, shots and key passes per game, as per Whoscored.

Perhaps EFC should just pay whatever fee is required to sign Doucoure, as these supporters seemed to suggest on Twitter:
