Some Everton fans have been blasting the display of Yerry Mina despite their side’s 5-4 home win in the FA Cup versus Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison (two), Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard were enough to send the Merseyside club through to the next round after Spurs had forced extra time at Goodison Park through a late Harry Kane equaliser to level the score at 4-4 on the night.
Should Mina play ahead of Holgate or Keane at Everton?
Although there were some very good performers in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, Mina was one player who disappointed on the night.
Some Toffees thought that the Colombia international was at fault for some of the goals and he did not have an easy game by any stretch of the imagination, picking up a yellow card midway through the second half.
The central defender really struggled at times, losing out on 80% of his duels, as he also failed to make a single interception or tackle, earning the 26-year-old a very measly 6.2 overall rating on Sofascore, the joint-lowest along with Alex Iwobi out of all of his teammates to have started the match.
Everton fan reaction to Mina display
During the game, these Toffees blasted his performance on Twitter, with one Blue even going as far as to say that he was a ‘useless mess’:
“@How is Mina still on the field? He’s made some terrible decisions throughout this whole match”
“Everton players so sloppy. No way they would get to half time 3-1 ahead. Mina has a mistake in him every game.”
“Criminal from Everton to concede that in the last seconds of the half. Soooo frustrating. What is Mina doing? Another one Pickford saves that too.“
“Bizarre half of football. Wasn’t a 5 goal game by any stretch but somehow we find ourselves 3-2 up. Mina and Keane look awful tonight and we will concede more goals. Good to see Richarlison get on the goals #efc”
“Should be Mina off, he’s terrible”
“Mina wrong side of Kane, useless mess MINA!!!!”
