Lots of Everton fans have been left fuming as the Merseyside club gave an official update on their proposed game versus Aston Villa in the Premier League.
As per the website of the Goodison Park faithful, the away match at Villa Park, which was due to be played on Sunday 17th January at 12pm, has now been postponed by the top flight’s board.
Will Everton win a trophy this season?
This is because a significant number of Villa players still remain in isolation following an outbreak, one which first saw them forced to play their U23s against Liverpool in the FA Cup and have their EPL fixture against Spurs postponed as well.
The update has left several Toffees fuming, as first of all, it leaves them with another game in hand to be squeezed in later in the season after their clash against Manchester City was also postponed, but also some have questioned why AVFC cannot play a mixed squad including some of the youngsters that played against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Everton fan reaction to Aston Villa postponement
These Blues fumed upon learning about the update on Twitter, with one fan even going as far to say as it is ‘pathetic’:
“Disgrace can’t they play with a weaker squad just to get the game ahead”
“Of course they’ve postponed it. That’s 6 points extra now we should have, pathetic”
“Why did Derby have to go on with academy players in their last cup match and Villa gets to cancel? Doesn’t seem fair.”
“Joke, no consistency at all is there”
