Lots of Everton fans have lauded a revelation from Dominic Calvert-Lewin about how he first heard of his England call-up by Gareth Southgate.
As shared in a video by Football Daily on Twitter, the 23-year old revealed:
“I was waiting and waiting, Michael Keane and Pickers got the text and they came to me but my phone was in my locker.”
Indeed, Calvert-Lewin has been called up to the senior England national team for the first time in his career and will hope to play alongside Toffees teammates Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane in the friendly at Wembley Stadium against Ryan Giggs’ Wales as well as the UEFA Nations League home ties versus Belgium and Denmark respectively.
Does Calvert-Lewin deserve the England call-up?
The call-up is a real testament to the hugely impressive start to the season that the striker has had under Carlo Ancelotti, scoring no fewer than nine goals in just six matches in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.
These members of the Goodison Park faithful lauded Calvert-Lewin’s revelation on Twitter as he seemed to conduct himself very well when talking about his call-up to the national side:
Conducts himself great in interviews. Made up for him
