Many Republic of Ireland fans were to left to laud the display of Everton man Seamus Coleman despite their 3-2 away loss at Serbia on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old put in a decent performance in an unfamiliar role on the right side of a back three for Stephen Kenny's team, despite conceding three goals.

Coleman won no fewer than six clearances, the second-most out of any player to have set foot on the pitch, and topped the stats with four interceptions and two blocked shots (Sofascore).

Despite playing as a central defender, he also got on the ball a lot for the Irish, recording the second-most touches (62) out of any of his teammates, while also achieving an 89% pass accuracy (Sofascore), a stellar overall display by the captain.
