Everton hold a 'real interest' in Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne, according to Sky Italia (via Calcio Napoli 24).

Journalist Luca Marchetti says Rafael Benitez wants a reunion with Insigne, and Zenit St Petersburg are keen too.

Reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan are named too, but it's unclear just how 'serious' their interest is at this stage.

Benitez was in charge at Napoli between 2013 and 2015 and won two trophies - the Coppa Italia in 2014 and the Supercoppa the same year.

Insigne netted 19 goals in all competitions last season, taking his overall Napoli tally to 109 in 397 appearances. He's also contributed 85 assists (via Transfermarkt).

The winger scored twice for Italy on their road to the European Championship earlier in the summer, with his long-range curler against Belgium in the Round of 16 ranking in the tournament's top 10.

However, Insigne did turn 30 earlier this summer and pockets £150,000 per week at Napoli. Were he to retain that salary, he'd become Everton's highest-paid player. The wisdom of any deal could therefore be questioned.

Fan feed The Toffee Blues relayed Sky's report, and supporters were quite stunned, with one simply claiming they are 'flummoxed'.
