Many Everton fans have been slamming the news that Fabian Delph has returned to full training, as manager Carlo Ancelotti recently confirmed.
The central midfield player has not been available for the Goodison Park faithful’s last nine games in all competitions in the 2020/21 campaign, but he will be looking to get back into the squad as he aims to increase his fitness.
Should Everton cut their losses on Delph?
Delph has a very poor injury record and considering that the Merseyside club forked out £8.55m for his signature from Manchester City back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the 31-year-old has not exactly pulled up many trees since his arrival.
He has only managed to play in a mere 27 matches over all competitions across the last two consecutive seasons (Transfermarkt), and thus, has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter.
Given his injury record and that he has not been able to cement a starting place in the team, several Toffees were not very happy at all upon hearing the news.
Everton fan reaction to Delph update
These Blues slammed the update on Twitter, with one EFC supporter even claiming that it was ‘awful news’ and another going as far as to call the Englishman a ‘fraud’:
“Stick him in the reserves and don’t let him anywhere near the squad. Proper stinks the gaff out him.”
“Would be great to get him off the books before the end of January”
“Don’t want him anywhere near the first team. Fraud”
“Bad news, he should never play for us again him”
