Loads of Everton fans have been left reacting to some news that emerged from the Merseyside club.

As per the official website of the Toffees, their game against Newcastle United in the Premier League, which was due to be played at Goodison Park on Thursday night, has now been postponed at the request of the Magpies.

They submitted an application after an outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases in their squad, on top of a growing injury list.

Of course, it is understandable to postpone matches in this current climate due to rising concerns over the virus, but injuries are part of the game, and so a lot of Blues supporters feel as if it should not be used as an excuse to call fixtures off on top of COVID-19 outbreaks.

Their frustrations likely come from the fact that Newcastle suffered injuries to two key players on Monday - Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson - casting doubt in the eyes of some Toffees over the legitimacy of the Tyneside club's request.

Nonetheless, they will now have to wait until next year before they can see their team play again.

Everton fans on Newcastle postponement

These EFC fans erupted as the news was shared on Twitter, with one Evertonian even going as far as to claim that it was 'ridiculous':

"Why did we bother playing that game at Chelsea if “injuries” gets you a game called off? Same for us at Burnley last Sunday. It’s a joke"

"Ridiculous. They get a couple of key injuries and get the game called off. Teams blatantly exploiting the system. I mean, we’d probably have lost but would still be nice to have one festive fixture!!"

"Absolute disgraceful decision. Injuries are part of the game, they should have a squad big enough to cope"
