Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, former Everton striker Marcus Bent believes Moise Kean did not fit the Toffees’ style.
Much was expected from Kean after he joined Everton from Juventus for around £27m back in 2019.
However, the 21-year-old failed to live up to expectations, scoring just four goals for the club before returning to Juventus this summer.
Did Kean deserve more opportunities?
All in all, a very disappointing spell, though Bent does have sympathy for Kean, suggesting that the Italian just simply did not fit into Everton’s style.
On Kean, the ex-Toffees player told TT:
“I just feel he didn’t fit Everton’s way of playing in a sense and he didn’t get his opportunities.”
While things did not work out for him at Everton, Kean is hardly a bad player.
The £31.5m-rated Italy international really impressed during his loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain last season, coming up with some big goals for the French side, including against Barcelona in the Champions League.
And at 21, he has plenty of time to improve and iron out the kinks in his game. Having Dominic Calvert-Lewin, though, and Salomon Rondon to cover the Englishman, Rafael Benitez will probably be content with his current forward options at Goodison Park.
