The Toffees had been reportedly interested in making a move for Milik in the summer. Everton had even held talks with the Poland international’s representatives, per The Express. However, no move materialised. It had since been reported that the striker was preparing to run his contract down and move to Juventus, per the Daily Mail.
Change in stance opens door for Everton move
Milik is thought to have altered his stance on his future, with the forward now ready to turn down interest from Juventus in favour of securing a move away in January, per the Daily Mail. That is because the 26-year-old is aiming to get regular minutes again as soon as possible.
That has opened the door for both Tottenham and Everton, who are both showing interest in the forward ahead of the winter window, per the Daily Mail. Both sides went in for him in the summer, but with the forward having been left out of Napoli’s Serie A squad the chances of a move have increased.
Everton have allowed Moise Kean to join PSG on loan, so they could need a new deputy for the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Milik, having won 54 caps for his country would be an experienced option for the Toffees to bring in. Any deal could potentially be for a reduced fee due to his contract running down at the end of the campaign.
Milik signing would be risk worth taking
Milik has endured problems with injuries in the past, so it would be something of a gamble to bring him into Everton. However, considering he will likely be available on the cheap in January and he did register an impressive tally of 17 goals in 35 appearances in the 2018/19 season (Sofascore), it is a risk that is worth taking.
The Poland international has previously been described as ‘sensational’ by Ancelotti himself when he was in charge of Napoli. That demonstrates the Italian has been able to get the best out of him in the past and is clearly a big fan of his. Therefore, given how the boss has improved Calvert-Lewin it would be no surprise to see the Poland international thrive if he arrived at Goodison Park.
