Many Everton fans have been left reacting to yet another transfer update on the future of Cenk Tosun, this time from Alan Myers.
As per a tweet from the sports news editor, Celta Vigo have joined the race alongside both his old club in Besiktas and CSKA Moscow to try and sign the 29-year-old before this month’s window shuts in just a few days.
Should Everton sell Tosun?
Myers also added that his understanding is that Tosun’s preferred choice would be to go back to Turkey to play for Besiktas again.
It would be a wise idea for the Goodison Park faithful to try and sell the striker as soon as possible and get in a replacement that could adequately cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
The Turkey international has scored a mere 11 goals and made just six assists in 58 matches in total across all competitions over the last four consecutive seasons (Transfermarkt), as his time at the Merseyside club has not really worked out.
Everton fan reaction to Tosun update
These Toffees reacted to the update on Twitter, with the majority of Blues seemingly wanting to get Tosun off of their books:
“I know he’s not what we need and selling him would be preferable but again we have to have a squad that can meet the challenge of the rest of the season so if he goes we must bring a striker in. Over to Mr Brands.”
“Please be gone on a permanent deal!”
“Brands working hard I hope its a permanent deal”
“Does he need a lift Al?”
“At this point given he’s had zero impact in the league I’d offer to sell to free up wages along with Bolasie’s for the July window. Even if DCL is injured he makes no impact”
