Everton: Fans fume over transfer link to Carlo Ancelotti favourite Branislav Ivanovic

Plenty of Everton fans have been destroying a transfer link to Branislav Ivanovic as Novosti (via The Toffee Blues) reported that the Merseyside club are interested in signing the former Chelsea ace in the summer transfer window.

As per the outlet, Ivanovic is deep in negotiations with the Blues and is focused on agreeing terms with them, but apparently face competition from Red Star Belgrade for the signature of the Zenit St. Petersburg man.

Indeed, the Serbian is a favourite of Carlo Ancelotti, having played in 89 games in all competitions over two consecutive seasons under the Italian manager at Chelsea, scoring a rather impressive seven goals and making 13 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

However, the central defender would arguably not improve his team this time around on the pitch, having averaged fewer tackles, interceptions and clearances in the Russian top flight compared to Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina in the 2019/20 Premier League season (via Whoscored).

Ivanovic is also 36 years of age now and may not have the legs to cope in England’s highest division, as one member of the Goodison Park faithful claimed that they would ‘rather bring Jagielka back’ instead, who is one year older and rejoined his boyhood Sheffield United last summer (per Transfermarkt).

These Everton supporters on Twitter also slammed the news of Ivanovic’s potential arrival:
