Some Everton fans have been left reacting to a transfer update on Kieran Trippier.
As per 90min, the Goodison Park faithful are one of a number of clubs that ere reportedly willing to make a move for the right-back, should Atletico Madrid make him available for sale.
Should Everton sign Trippier?
Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Manchester United are also thought to be the other teams interested in his signature in the January transfer window.
There is no doubt that the Merseyside club need to sign a new right-back, with Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny their only senior options at the moment.
Coleman is now 33 years of age, while Kenny has only played in a mere three matches in total over all competitions so far this term, thus Rafa Benitez could do with some strengthening in that position.
Trippier could fit the bill, given his experience and knowledge of the Premier League, although he himself is 31, and so given the fact that they have Coleman already, the Toffees may want to look at younger targets.
Everton fans on Trippier transfer news
These Blues gave some fairly mixed reactions to the transfer news as it was shared on Twitter, with one EFC supporter even going as far as to claim that he would be an ‘excellent’ signing:
“Trippier is a first class full-back and has played in the Premier League. I am sure he would be an excellent acquisition.”
“I’d definitely get behind this”
“Half decent player but only 2 yrs younger than Seamus. The only sensible reason to go for him is if he was cheap or free as we have no money for somebody younger”
“Everton Retirement Home, where’s the youth???”
“And why? He’s always getting injured”
“Stop with the washed up plates, first an ageing Ramsey and now an ageing Trippier! No thanks, get some decent scouts and find some talent out there!!!”
