According to a report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement to sign Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech this summer for £37.8m, prompting some Everton supporters to regret missing out on his signature.
The Toffees, who were linked with Ziyech before the London club opted to swoop for the 26-year-old (Calciomercato via the Echo), seem to be missing that goal threat from out wide, even despite the recent scoring exploits of Theo Walcott and Bernard. The Morocco international, who has scored six goals so far this season whilst assisting 12 others (WhoScored), could potentially have been a real coup as far as the Toffees were concerned, with Ziyech surpassing Bernard in almost every way statistically.
Compared to Everton’s current winger, Ziyech has accumulated more shots per game (4.7), key passes (3.7) and dribbles (2.7) this season, potentially highlighting the fact he could’ve been a decent signing had the club opted to pursue him.
As a result, these Toffees supporters regret missing out on a ‘great player‘ – find all of their best comments down below.
Serious business from Chelsea if true. Not a lot of money either really. We should have signed this fella about 12 different times now. https://t.co/fBx0afq5qy
