Everton must be fearful of these 2 things happening this January

Ronald Koeman is slowly becoming the toast of the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern with his management of the Toffees so far this season.

With January signings such as Morgan Schneiderlin and Ademola Lookman looking impressive in their first cameos for the Merseyside club, our landlord believes this could be a strong transfer window for Koeman.

And with the quality of signings secured, Evertonians in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Koeman is able to build on the squad he has instead of dismantling it with some suitors potentially on the horizon for his squad.

A good transfer window here could not just set Everton in good stead for this season, but also potentially for the long term future – especially if Koeman decides to invest in young talent.

With all this in mind, here are two things Everton must be wary of happening this month to avoid ruining that momentum according to our landlord…

Losing Romelu Lukaku

Though there is no solid interest in Lukaku, our landlord believes that Koeman will be keeping one eye on Diego Costa’s situation at Chelsea as it is more than plausible that should he leave Lukaku will be seen as a replacement.

If the Spaniard moves, the interest for Lukaku may hot up – not just from the London club but with other clubs not looking to miss out on the big Belgium.

It is vital Everton keep hold of their top scorer as he borders on irreplaceable for the Merseyside club.

Freezing out the youth

With young players like Mason Holgate, Tom Davies and new man, Ademola Lookman at the club – it is important for Koeman to let these players develop as our landlord believes it will reward the club in the future.

Investing in these players will also mean the Toffees save a bit of money and our resident Evertonians in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see their young players develop over the coming years under the Dutch boss.
