Everton are making progress in their pursuit of Juventus striker Moise Kean, with Juventus representatives travelling to England, as reported by Sky Italia.
They have travelled with focus on the sales of both Kean and Mattia Perin, with Everton the main candidates to sign the former.
It is reported that Everton have had contact with both Juventus and Kean’s agent Mino Raiola, after monitoring the 19-year-old for weeks.
Arsenal are also said to be interested, though their intentions seemingly aren’t as serious at this stage.
Everton missed a truly prolific striker last season. Indeed, Cenk Tosun scored three and assisted three in 10 starts and 15 substitute appearances, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin managed six goals and two assists in 19 starts and 16 substitute appearances.
In contrast, Kean scored six goals in five starts and eight substitute appearances for Juventus, which is a superb record.
In April, it was even reported by Calciomercato that he had the highest ratio of goals scored to shots taken in the whole of Europe, with 42%.
While it would be difficult for the Italian to maintain these numbers over a longer period of games, with Gylfi Sigurdsson creating chances for him, having provided 1.9 key passes per game last season, he may be in line for the kind of chances to capitalise.
This would be a superb move for Everton if they can pull it off, with Kean already being a talented striker, but having plenty of room to grow as a player, being just 19-years-old. After all, Paolo Bandini of the Guardian wrote of his reputation being that of ‘a consummate hard worker’ back in April and spoke of how he helped the Italian giants deal without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo.
There can be a level of risk in trusting someone so young to lead the line, but he has shown he can deal with tough situations, specifically through the way he handled the racist chanting by sections of Cagliari supporters – Everton should do all they can to ensure this deal goes through.
