Everton ready to turn to 23-year-old ahead of £50m-rated man

Backed by huge money these days of course, the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hugely excited about the prospect of splashing the cash in the New Year sales.

Life under Ronald Koeman hasn’t been the easiest of rides throughout this season, though the Toffees in the Tavern have been impressed by the Dutchman of late and are excited by the prospect of new arrivals.

Though Southampton’s wonderful Virgil van Dijk is perhaps the biggest name linked with a switch to Goodison Park, the Daily Mirror suggest another defender could be targeted.

Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson is reportedly emerging as an alternative on Merseyside should the Dutchman, reportedly valued at upwards of £50m by the Saints, prove far too expensive.

Nephew of Boro chairman Steve, 23-year-old Gibson has established himself as one of the most promising English defenders in the Premier League amid some resolute form on Teeside.

He penned a new deal at the Riverside, one that keeps him there until 2021, though is thought to have come across the radar of a number of big clubs recently.

How impressed have you been with Gibson this season? Let us know below..
