Everton reportedly join transfer hunt following Walsh scouting mission

Everton punters in the Transfer Tavern are gathering round to hear the latest transfer rumours from our landlord, who claims the Goodison outfit have joined the race to sign Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.

The wing-back is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents in the Football League, having already muscled his way into the Cottagers’ first-team squad at just 16 years of age.

He’s already made 21 appearances for the west Londoners this season, including eleven starts in the Championship, and scored twice in three FA Cup outings.

According to Mirror Football, Everton’s Director of Football Steve Walsh ran the rule over the teenager last weekend, watching his impressive performance in a 3-1 win over Preston North End.

And it’s further claimed that Everton have now joined the race to snap up the England U17 international, although they appear likely to face competition from a number of Premier League rivals.

Goodison gaffer Ronald Koeman is reportedly keen to create a squad capable of contending for Champions League qualification and signing Sessegnon would likely bring him closer to that aim.

The Merseysiders are currently seventh in the Premier League table, eight points away from the top four, and face West Bromwich Albion at home on Saturday.
