Everton: Update on Richarlison transfer bid from Barcelona has supporters fuming over coverage

Responding to a piece by journalist Greg O’Keeffe for The Athletic, Everton supporters have slammed the coverage surrounding Barcelona’s £85 million January bid for striker Richarlison – with some fans deeming the reaction to the news as ‘hysterical‘.

The Athletic piece details that news surrounding the supposed £85 million swoop for Everton’s forward was shot down by both clubs who reportedly denied any talks over the Brazilian, despite Sky Sports News claiming a bid for Richarlison had definitely been lodged by La Liga giants Barcelona. This same report also stated that the Toffees rejected the offer, leaving sections of the media scratching their heads over how they can turn down such a massive offer (TalkSport).

The 22-year-old, who has scored eight league goals in 22 starts this season (WhoScored.com), seemingly won’t be on the move according to this piece from The Athletic – with Toffees supporters lambasting the coverage surrounding a ‘ghost bid‘ for the player.
