Everton rocked with Toffees star seeking new challenge

LukakuEverton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are rocked by the news in The Sun as Romelu Lukaku says that he plans to move to a “top club” after only signing permanently at Goodison Park last year.

The Belgian international who is still only 21, clearly has a chip on his shoulder and it is proving clear he cannot stand up to tough circumstances with the Toffees and would rather move on rather than face up to the problems.

He was heavily criticised for his performance against Liverpool in the recent Merseyside derby where he was described as a tame striker who should be more boisterous in a fixture of that magnitude.

And he then had the perfect opportunity to answer his critics against his former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening where he was ultimately disappointing again with some of our resident Toffees fans questioning his work rate.

After the game with the Blues, he admitted that he had his eyes on a move beyond Everton.

He said: “It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception.

“They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.

“I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”

Everton fans. What do you make of these quotes? Is it worrying to know you have a player who is playing with his own long-term goals at the front of his mind? Let us know your thoughts below.
