Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday evening (and quoted by The Liverpool Echo), Seamus Coleman has revealed Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival has heralded “massive improvements” in both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.
Ancelotti was named Everton manager towards the end of 2019, becoming Marco Silva’s permanent successor following his sacking at Goodison Park.
Since then, the Toffees have been very impressive in the Premier League, losing only to Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea in the top-flight.
And Coleman has paid tribute to the stellar work Ancelotti has done at the club, and also tipped his hat to club icon Duncan Ferguson for the brief spell he was in charge for.
He said: “As you touched on there, Fergie came in and was absolutely brilliant. He really deserved that chance and I am so glad it went so well for him.
“Then we all know we got a world class manager, and I have to say, a world class man, who is very approachable and very down to earth. You don’t do as well as he did in the game without the other side of it…the tactical side of it. I think you have seen massive improvements in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison and we are just learning from him every day.”
Man-management is one of the areas in which Ancelotti has been greatly lauded for in his time in football. The Italian appears to form long-lasting bonds and relationships with his players, and building that kind of spirit has no doubt played a major role in the major domestic and European successes he has enjoyed throughout his career.

As Coleman alludes to, both Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have been two of the main beneficiaries of Ancelotti’s arrival at Goodison Park. Under the Italian’s leadership, the former has struck eight goals in just 12 games, whilst the latter has found the back of the net on four occasions in only ten matches.
Ancelotti has seemingly been keen to get them firing as a strike partnership, and it has so far paid major dividends. It has all the signs of being a real throwback to years gone by in the Premier League, and something that could help the Toffees become a potent attacking force.
