Everton sent scouts to watch Nicolo Barella on Wednesday

Everton enjoyed a positive start to proceedings in the Premier League, but they’ve struggled to ensure consistency in recent times.

The Toffees would have had their sights set on securing a European place prior to the start of the season, but they just haven’t been able to make the most of promising positions thus far. Although, it appears as if they’re eyeing a potential swoop, as according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Everton travelled to watch Nicolo Barella in action on Wednesday.

Interestingly, it’s thought that the Toffees were present midweek to watch Sampdoria draw with Cagliari, keeping an eye on the 21-year-old midfielder.

Although, West Ham United were also believed to be present at the game.

And, after splashing the cash on a number of impressive players during the summer transfer window, perhaps the Toffees will look for a repeat to bring Nicolo Barella to the club.

THE VERDICT:

Nicolo Barella has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in the whole of world football during his time in Italy, with a number of clubs believed to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Although, with Everton having the backing of the owners and the opportunity to provide him with regular football at Goodison Park, perhaps the 21-year-old will be interested in the move.
