The Everton fans in the Tavern tonight might have thought they’ve had too much to drink as they seem to have blinked, and they don’t recognise their squad.

It seems like the Everton board have had enough of consistent underperforming from their side with the club bringing in five new players, all of whom are likely to make the first team.

Bringing in so many players, most likely with more to come, means two things. Firstly, they need to balance their books which they have started to do by releasing ten players and letting Tom Cleverley join Watford. Similarly, surely there will be a lot of players handing in transfer requests when they realise they’re chances of playing have just vanished.

So, with a new goalkeeper, centre back, midfielders and strikers coming in, many within the Everton ranks should be looking for a move away if they want to keep playing first team football.

On that note, here are three players who should look to move away from Goodison Park.

Ross Barkley

With Davy Klaassen already making the move to Everton and Swansea superstar, Gylfi Sigurdsson being heavily linked to make the switch to the Toffees, Ross Barkley could be on his way out of the club very soon.

Tottenham look the most likely to sign him but even then, Barkley would only make the bench given that Spurs have the best young CAM in the world in Dele Alli.

Unfortunately for Ross, given his form over the last few seasons, if he wants first team football he may have to drop a little lower in the league table. He hasn’t hit the heights he was supposed to and Ronald Koeman has realised that.

Maarten Stekelenburg

Maarten Stekelenburg managed 19 appearances in the Premier League last season, not bad for a 34-year-old.

Still, with the recent arrival of the £30 million Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, it’s looking very unlikely that he’ll ever play a Premier League game for Everton again.

As a keeper, Stekelenburg still has a few years left in him, whether he goes to Australia or the MLS, he could keep playing for at least two more seasons before having to call it a day. It’s just doubtful those two seasons will be spent at Everton.
