Everton’s window was good, but they made a real error in not doing this

Everton manager Ronald Koeman

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pretty pleased with what they’ve seen their side do so far this season and they’re certainly happy enough with their transfer window.

For sure, the Toffees certainly went about getting the players they needed in during the window just gone with great gusto as they look to try and break into the top six.

The likes of Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Gylfi Sigurdsson all arrived to help give the club an extra level of depth and quality on the playing field but, arguably, Ronald Koeman might just be reflecting on what could have been.

Indeed, there can be no doubt that he wanted one more striker in at the club more than anything else and he’ll certainly be a bit annoyed that they couldn’t be as efficient with that as they were with most of their transfers.

Sure, they have the likes of Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez and the impressive Dominic Calvert-Lewin but, for one reason or another, none of them are capable of leading the line.

Certainly, they needed a player more in Romelu Lukaku’s mould to ensure they were completely ready for the vigours that lie ahead this season and so, whilst the window was a good one for the Toffees, a lack of a spearhead’s signature will likely prove to be a blot on the summer.
